Reading & Listening this week

The Big Sort

Seth Godin presents why taxonomy matters. I use taxonomy (the practice and science of classification) every day in business, especially in strategic and transformation sessions. Albeit we use different nouns to refer to taxonomy, like; ‘segmentation’, ‘personas‘, ‘customer archetypes‘. Always good to hear how Seth clarifies and help us to remember what we are really using and the accountability to get it right. The Big Sort: A Podcast from Seth Godin

What is VLamax?

Interesting and deepdiscussion on another way to measurement an athlete’s maximal rate of lactate production, and how it affects training and rider type. Fast Talk, ep. 67: What is VLamax? With Sebastian Weber

Training periodisation with Joe Friel

The legend Joe Friel talks about the many types of training periodisation and which may be best for you. Fast Talk, ep. 66: Demystifying periodization with Joe Friel

ChurchillWalking with Destiny, by Andrew Roberts 2018. Thanks Craig for the birthday present. Its looking like another great account of this amazing man. The author, Roberts, claims to have gained exclusive access to extensive new material and I believe he has. Roberts’s reveals more about Churchill and what he can teach us about the challenges leaders face today and the fundamental values of courage, tenacity, leadership and moral conviction.

12 Rules for Life: An Antidote to Chaos by Jordon Peterson, 2018. Interesting opinions and certainly flies in the face of the principals many have adopted. Slow start yet its getting to be interesting.

The Land Before Avocado: by Richard Glover 2018. Is a fun read about how bizarre Australia was in the 1970’s and 80’s before the popular trend of eating breakfast at cafés. Makes me wonder as an Aussie why people thought and behaved this way back then.
