Masters handicap & start-time calculator
Compare a whole field of boats by age category or exact age, at any distance — get the prognostic finish time for each, the handicap gaps, and a staggered start sheet. Built to be reused every event, not just once.
Pick by category for a standard World Rowing age band, by age for a rower’s exact age, or open/senior for an unhandicapped elite or open entry — all compute against the same World Rowing age-decline data.
The predicted time for each boat at this distance, before any handicap math.
Age-decline coefficients and age category definitions (A–M) adapted from World Rowing Masters Regatta data (2014–2024) and World Rowing’s published Masters eligibility rules. Distance scaling, multi-boat comparison, the prognostic-time display, the pursuit start sheet, the common-start correction and the line/handicap honors ranking are original to this tool. For Silver Skiff (10,700m), the Open/Senior scratch reference uses the fastest verified senior times across 18 years of official results, 2002–2025 (M 40:19.108, Sinkovic 2025; W 43:42.089, Henry 2025) rather than the model estimate. For the Head of the Charles (4,702m), single sculls, doubles, coxed fours and eights (1x/2x/4+/8+) use a dedicated model fitted directly from 10 years of official HOCR results (2016–2025, 2020 excluded as a non-comparable COVID-era format) — singles and doubles use an exponential age curve, fours and eights use a linear one, chosen in each case by which shape the data actually supports. Other boat classes and Mixed crews at this distance use the general model for now.
